England make 4 changes for 2nd test

Chennai: England today made four changes and announced a 2-member squad for the second test against India beginning here tomorrow, which included two spinners.

While pacer Jofra Archer was ruled out for the match after he had an injection to his right elbow, speedster James Anderson, wicket-keeper Jos Butler, off spinner Dom Bess did not figure in the 12. They were replaced with speedster Stuart Broad, spinner Moeen Ali, wicket-keeper Ben Foakes, young Olly Stone and Chris Woakes.

England have retained seven members of the first test, which it won by 227 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the four match series, wth the third and fourth to be played at Ahmedabad.

The final XI would be announced at the toss tomorrow morning, a statement from England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said today.

Following is the team : Joe Root (c), Moeen Ali, Stuart Broad, Rory Burns, Ben Foakes (w), Dan Lawrence, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Dom Sibley, Ben Stokes, Olly Stone, Chris Woakes.
