Tarun Chugh, the BJP’s National General Secretary, announced that the party has offered tickets to 12 candidates from farmers’ families, 8 candidates from the Scheduled Caste (SC) group, and 13 candidates from the Sikh community.

Doctors, lawyers, athletes, farmers, youth, women, and former IAS officers are among the candidates on the BJP’s initial list, he added.

The BJP has fielded Nimisha Mehta, a former advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, in the Garhshankar constituency. She had recently become a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Renu Kashyup, a woman contender from Dina Nagar, has been fielded alongside Mehta. Ranjit Singh Khojewala, a Kabbadi player, has been elected to the Kapurthala assembly constituency.

SR Laddhar, a retired IAS officer, has been elected to the Gill assembly constituency.

The BJP has released a list of 34 candidates, while its coalition partners will disclose their first lists of candidates separately.

Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) and Captain Amarinder Singh’s Punjab Lok Congress are the BJP’s coalition partners in the Punjab Assembly election.
