According to reports, Bhagwant Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) chief ministerial candidate for the Punjab assembly elections, would run from the Dhuri assembly seat in his hometown of Sangrur.

However, Mann is a two-term serving MP from the state’s Sangrur parliamentary constituency and heads the AAP’s Punjab unit. So, the party is deciding to elect him from the same seat.
The ruling Congress now holds the Dhuri assembly seat, with Dalvinder Singh Khangura ‘Goldy’ as the incumbent MLA. The party has controlled the seat since 2012, when its nominee, Arvind Khanna, won the assembly elections from here that year, followed by Khangura in 2017. It is said that Congress has full control on the Dhuri seat and it might be difficult for other parties to win from this assembly seat.
Meanwhile, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, declared Bhagwat Mann as the CM’s face for next Punjab assembly elections on Tuesday.
