Organised skilling and wellness sessions across cities in North India on International Women’s Day

Hisar: Reiterating its commitment to women empowerment and wellbeing, Amway India, one of the country’s leading direct selling FMCG companies, celebrated International Women’s Day. Promoting gender equality and healthy living, the company has helped more than 550,000 direct sellers in India work towards financial independence, 60% of which are women. The celebrations took place in cities across North India which include, Gurugram, Delhi, Lucknow, Haldwani, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Dehradun, Ludhiana and Jaipur.

Advancing the agenda of equal opportunities, Amway India conducted skilling workshop for women direct sellers. Aligned with the Government’s ‘Skill India’ initiative, Amway India has been strengthening its efforts by strategically investing in skilling workshops to add to the skilling ecosystem. The aim is to enable women to be financially independent to take value-based decisions and embrace the future with confidence. The session was followed by an engaging discussion on improving overall women’s health and the need for proper nutrition. The event witnessed overwhelming participation from women direct sellers in and around the cities.

Commenting on the celebrations, Gursharan Cheema, Senior Vice President – North & South Region, Amway India, said, “Women play an intrinsic role in strengthening the socio-economic landscape of our country. We believe skill training is crucial to open equal opportunities for women in all fields. The fact that almost 60 percent of Amway direct sellers are women is a testimony to our commitment and contribution towards empowering women entrepreneurship. On International Women’s Day, we celebrated women entrepreneurship and wellbeing to enable them to run their businesses successfully along with an emphasis on their overall wellbeing with Amway’s wide range of products across categories.”

Paving the way for entrepreneurship among women, Amway has been significantly contributing towards skill development and nurturing entrepreneurship in the country with their training strategy. With ‘guided entrepreneurship’ at its core, Amway focusses on enhancing the skills and competencies of its direct sellers. Within a year Amway has provided close to 14,000 free training sessions to its direct sellers in eight languages across more than 20 states. This is in addition to a comprehensive digital learning portal focused on e-learning. Equal importance is being given during these sessions to maintain overall women’s health and the need for proper nutrition throughout their life cycle.
