Chennai: DMK’s supremo MK Stalin has taken the oath of office as Tamil Nadu’s 11th Chief Minister. DMK has come to power in the state after a decade.

The ceremony begun with MK Stalin introducing his Ministers to Governor Banwarilal Purohit shortly after which National anthem and Tamil Thaai vaazhthu was played.

While Stalin was swearing-in, his wife Durga Stalin and Chepauk MLA and Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin became emotional.

After 1996, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has come to power with a clear majority of 125 MLAs — excluding eight more MLAs from other parties contested under the ‘rising sun’ symbol.

Notable senior DMK leaders such as Durai Murugan took office as Minister of Water Resources, KN Nehru became Minister of Municipal Administration, K Ponmudi sworn in as Education Minister and the most crucial portfolio at this juncture the Medical and Family Welfare ministry will be led by Ma. Subramanian.

Covid-19 pandemic will be the proverbial elephant in the room for the newly-elected DMK government. Chief Minister MK Stalin held some crucial meetings on the pandemic, vaccine and oxygen availability even before his swearing-in.
