Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party legislators held a dummy assembly session on Vikramaditya Marg in Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh, on Monday. The Samajwadi Party which is in opposition in the state were protesting against the government for not letting them march to the state assembly.

During the dummy session, the legislators sang Vande Mataram and read out an obituary resolution condoling the passing away of a legislator of the ruling Bhratiya Janata Party (BJP), Arvind Giri. They called off dharna after keeping two minutes’ silence.

The UP Assembly was also adjourned after mourning the death of the BJP MLA. Taking a swipe at the SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak said that the party had nothing to do with UP any longer. The people of the state rejected them in four elections, he said.

Another deputy chief minister KP Maurya said that the SP’s march was not related to the people and that if they want to discuss the people’s problems, they should do in in the House, he said. Uttar Pradesh has two deputy chief ministers.

The SP is set to conduct a march to raise the problems of unemployment, price rise and poor law and order situation in the state.  SP leader Rajendira Chaudhary told media persons that the social harmony in the state was in jeopardy because the ruling party was spreading hatred among people.
