New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Sunday said that the Indian Democracy is passing through its ‘most difficult times ‘ and called on party leaders to face the various challenges confronting the nation and not let the BJP government succeed in its ‘anti Democratic and anti National designs’.
Addressing a meeting of newly appointed AICC General Secretaries and state-incharges, Ms Gandhi said, ‘Today, the Democracy in the country is passing through its most difficult times. The country is being run by a government who wants to put the interests of citizens in the hands of a few industrialists. This government has waged a war against farm labourers, the poor working in ‘Anaj Mandis’ and small shopkeepers. It is our duty to work together to foil the conspiracy by the government against the poor and the underprivileged people.
‘I am sure that all of you will work hard to meet the challenges confronting the country and will not let the BJP government succeed in its anti Democratic and anti National designs.’
Accusing the NDA government of mishandling of the Covid pandemic, Ms Gandhi said, ‘a Prime Minister who claimed to defeat Corona in 21 says has left the nation to fend for itself. He has turned his back on his responsibility. This government has neither a policy nor a strategy or solution to tackle the covid crisis.’
