Lucknow: In a major boost to the opposition Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, several senior leaders of BSP and BJP joined the party in presence of party president Akhilesh Yadav here on Saturday.
Among the top BSP leaders who joined the SP are Mayor of Meerut Sunita Verma and her husband and former BSP MLA Yogesh Verma.
Along with the couple, around six corporators of Meerut city too joined the SP along with their mayor.
A former RSS pracharak from Gorakhpur Vinit Shukla too joined the SP along with his supporters.
Mr Akhilesh Yadav too said that this was a historic day when such senior leaders from other party joined the SP.
Others who joined the SP are ex MLA Vijay Pal Singh, Vijay Yadav, former BJP MLA Shreeram Bharati, former minister Awadhesh Verma and Ex MP from Lakhimpur Daud Ahmed.
