New Delhi: Delhi’s Patiala House Court has refused to issue a new death warrant for the four convicts at present while hearing the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case. The court said we cannot pronounce any verdict on the matter which is already going on in the Supreme Court. The Patiala House court has said that the culprits have time till 11th February to try some kind of legal options. The court said the death warrant cannot be issued on the basis of granting them death sentence alone.
The Tihar Jail administration had filed a petition in the Patiala House court seeking issuance of death warrants for the culprits. Which has been dismissed after hearing? Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana took note of the Delhi High Court’s February 5 order allowing the four convicts to use legal remedies within a week. The court said, “When the culprits are allowed to survive the law, it is a sin to hang them. The High Court had on February 5 allowed the culprits to use their legal remedies within a week of the order in the interest of justice. ”
