New Delhi: Party leader Navjot Singh Sidhu will meet Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday amid squabbles in Punjab Congress. Sources gave this information on Monday. This meeting is taking place at a time when the high command is struggling to calm the turmoil in the party ahead of the assembly elections next year in Punjab. The Congress had formed a committee in Punjab to resolve the differences between Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and the leaders dissatisfied with him. This committee has met all the prominent leaders of the state and also held long talks with Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.
It is known that the Congress leadership had formed a three-member committee to end the turmoil in the Punjab Congress. Under this, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh returned to Delhi after a two-day stay. The Congress is trying to bridge the gap between Sidhu and Amarinder Singh. The meeting with Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi is being considered as part of this exercise. However, the party has made it clear that Amarinder Singh will remain the chief minister. There is also speculation about giving some important responsibility to Sidhu.
