Chennai: Hours after being quitting from Congress, actress-turned politician Khushbu Sundar has now joined BJP. While joining, she said that Congress was out of touch of reality.
“Smt. Khushbu Sundar is hereby dropped as AICC Spokesperson with immediate effect,” said a statement from Pranav Jha, party Secretary In-charge of Communications.
Khusboo who joined Congress in 2014 after leaving DMK left for New Delhi on Sunday, sources said, to meet BJP leaders.
Kushboo said she was quitting the Congress as she was being suppressed by ‘a few elements at the higher level within the party who have no connectivity with the ground reality or public recognition’.
In a letter addressed to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, she said she had joined the Congress not for any monetary gains, name or fame.
Thanking Ms Sonia for providing her opportunity to serve the country as the National spokesperson and primary member of Congress, Kushboo said she came into the Congress fold at a time when it was at its lowest being defeated in the 2014 Lok Sabha eletions. Kushboo said ‘few elements seated at higher level within the party, people who have no connectivity with the ground reality or public recognition are dictating terms and people like me who wanted to work for the party sincerely, are being pushed and suppressed.’
‘I after a long thorough thought process over a period of time have decided to end my association with the party’, she said an tendered her resignation from the primary membership of the Congress.
