PoliticsK Kavitha Quits BRS After Suspension, Accuses Cousins of Conspiracy

Date:

News Desk – A day after being suspended from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), K Kavitha — MLC and daughter of party chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) announced her resignation from the party. Fighting back tears at a press conference in Hyderabad, she alleged there was a “conspiracy to break the Kalvakuntla family and the BRS.”

Kavitha directly blamed her cousins, senior BRS leaders T Harish Rao and Santosh Kumar, for her removal, and urged her father to “check who he is surrounded by.”

Her suspension was confirmed in a notice signed by the party’s disciplinary committee, which said her “recent behaviour and anti-party activities” were damaging BRS.

The rift widened earlier this week when Kavitha accused Harish Rao, Santosh Kumar, and industrialist Megha Krishna Reddy of being “responsible for the CBI inquiry” against KCR. She has also previously claimed there were merger talks between the BJP and BRS while she was in jail, and questioned KCR’s “limited attacks” on the BJP.

Sources close to her suggest she may start her own political party, join Congress, or accept her brother K T Rama Rao’s leadership in the BRS.

Her exit marks a major public split in the powerful Kalvakuntla family, which has dominated Telangana politics since the state’s formation in 2014.
