India aspiring to be the number one country in the world : Amit Shah

Imphal: India is aspiring to become the number one nation in the world under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, said Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a public reception at Hapta Kangjeibung there today.

No part of the nation, especially the north east will be left behind in any aspect, in India’s journey to the top spot in the comity of nations, Shah added.

The whole nation witnessed the rise of insurgencies, bandhs, blockades when Congress was ruling in the north eastern states, he said. With BJP forming governments in the northeast, most of the insurgents laid down their guns and returned to the mainstream, he added. Other groups

will also come back to the mainstream, he said.

Problems related to Bru, Reang, Bodo and other communities were settled and most underground outfits have laid down their arms, he pointed out.

The government will seriously consider the demands of the people and organisations of the region, he assured.

He appealed to the Manipur government to affiliate a science college with a Forensic institute so that people of the region can undergo courses in forensic science.

Earlier, a historic decision was taken by the central government to implement Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Manipur to protect the indigenous people, he said.

He said due to the directive of the Prime Minister to all ministers to visit north east regularly many projects were completed.
