The Congress is all set to launch a nation-wide agitation on August 5 against the sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities, party sources said on Tuesday. According to the plan, the party member will march to Rashtrapati Bhavan, gherao the official resident of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Raj Bhavans in every state.

According to party sources, the members of the Congress Working Committee and senior leaders would be responsible for encircling the Prime Minister’s house. At a press conference in New Delhi, the party leaders said although the government is trying to defend the price rise in Parliament, it has failed to take any suitable measures to arrest it. According to a Congress leader KC Venugopal, the party has issued a letter to its state and district units to get ready for the agitation.
