New Delhi: The Congress may postpone the election of its president for a few weeks and the final schedule will be announced after a meeting of the working committee on August 28, party sources said on Thursday. Instead of completing the election process, which was scheduled for September 21, it may now be done in October or November. The decision to defer the election has been taken, because the party leaders will be busy in ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ starting from September 7. Aside from that party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi, general secretaries Rahul and Priyanka will be abroad for medical check-up of their mother. Therefore, the Congress is going hold a meeting of the working committee on Sunday to take a decision on the schedule for election to party president’s post.
