New Delhi: Congress has formed a five-member group headed by senior leader Ashok Chavan to find out the reasons for the party’s debacle in the recently concluded five state assembly elections.
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said on Tuesday that the group headed by Mr. Chavan includes former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, Lok Sabha members Manish Tiwari, Vincent H. Pala and Ms. Jyoti Mani.
He said that Congress President Sonia Gandhi has recommended to set up the committee immediately and the group has been asked to submit its report in two weeks.
It is worth mentioning that Smt. Gandhi talked about the formation of the group at a meeting of the Congress Working Committee, the party’s highest policy-making body here on Monday, to find out the reasons for the Congress’s debacle in these assembly elections.
