Both are playing mind games
Shivpal Yadav had floated his own party in 2019 after a rift with his nephew, Akhilesh Yadav. Ahead of the UP polls, Shivpal contested from the Jaswantnagar seat on SP ticket. Legally Shivpal can’t join BJP because, his membership would be challenged. Sources say that, it was the trick of Akhilesh, that he never objected to give him SP’s symbol. On the other hand, Shivpal knows that even if Akhilesh challanges his membership, then also the matter would be decided by the speaker. There are many instances that speaker didn’t terminated the membership. The case of MLC Dinesh Pratap Singh is the recent example. Dinesh was Congress MLC. He joined BJP and contested 2019 Loksabha election on the symbol of BJP. Congress challanged his membership but it was not decided by the chairman. Dinesh completed his regime.
