New Delhi: Congress’s Member of Parliament from Kerala’s Wayanad Rahul Gandhi said on Thursday that as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is enjoying power, the members of minority community have become refugees in their own land. He made the statement over the plight of Pandits from Kashmir. In a tweet, he said the BJP had ruined the good work done by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.
According to reports, ten families of Kashmiri Pandit left their village Choudharygund in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir because of terrorists’ fear and somehow reached Jammu. They have been camping in Jammu and refused to return to the Valley. The authorities, however, said that there had been no exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the south Kashmir district.
Rahul Gandhi said, “There have been 30 targeted killings in Kashmir this year. The exodus of Pandits is increasing rapidly. The BJP has ruined the good work done by the UPA.”
“The Prime Minister, who talked of big things before coming to power, is enjoying power and Kashmiri Pandits continue to be refugees in their own country,” Gandhi said.
Meanwhile, the Congress demanded that the Central government -led by Modi should release white paper on the plight of Kashmiri Pandits and the government should apologise for their targeted killing. As usual, the BJP hit back, saying Modi has corrected the blunders of Jawaharlal Nehru by abrogating Article 370.
