During a book launch in the capital Delhi, Manmohan Singh said that if today India is counted among the vibrant democracy community and considered to be a big power in the world, then it was Jawaharlal Nehru, the country’s first PM who was its main creator. to be supposed.

Economist Manmohan Singh said that Nehru led the country at a time when it was going through a period of instability, when it adopted democratic way of life, different social and political views. He said, “The multi-lingual Nehru in a unique way laid the foundation for the universities, academic institutions and cultural institutions of modern India.”

At the launch of the book ‘Who is Bharat Mata’ by Purushottam Agarwal and Radha Krishna, senior Congress leader Manmohan further lashed out at the BJP, saying, ‘But one section of the country unfortunately does not have the patience to read history or they can Walk according to prejudice. They try to falsely show Nehru’s image. But I trust, history has the ability to deny lies and the ability to put everything in the right perspective. ‘

The book contains excerpts from Nehru’s biography ‘Glimpses of World History’ and ‘Discovery of India’, his speeches, articles and letters. Manmohan said in the perspective of the book, ‘This book is particularly relevant when the slogan of nationalism and Bharat Mata ki Jai is being misused to create a strong and purely emotional image of the country which would separate millions of citizens from it. is.’

Manmohan said referring to Nehru, he had asked, ‘Who is Bharat Mata ?, whose victory do you want?’ Mountains and rivers, forests and fields are beloved by all, but what is truly counted are the people of the country, which are spread all over the vast land. ‘
