The prize was given for their most recent album, “This Moment.” Mahadevan and another band member, Ganesh Rajagopalan, are shown accepting the award on stage in a photo that the Grammys posted on their official X (formerly known as Twitter) account. Kudos to Shakti, the winner of the Best Global Music Album for “This Moment.” The Grammy wrote in the post, “#GRAMMYs.”

Eight songs by John McLaughlin (guitar synth), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Shankar Mahadevan (vocalist), V Selvaganesh (percussionist), and Ganesh Rajagopalan (violinist) are included in the album “This Moment,” which was released on June 30 of last year. Along with artists like Susana Baca, Bokante, Burna Boy, and Davido, they received Grammy nominations.
Zakir Hussain, Bela Fleck, and Edgar Meyer, as well as virtuoso flute player Rakesh Chaurasia, won the Grammy for Best Global Music Efficiency for their contributions to Pashto. Chaurasia received two Grammys, but Hussain won three in a single evening.

This year, the organizers also include a few new categories, such as best African execution.
