Lucknow: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) President and SP alliance partner in UP assembly elections, Jayant Choudhary visited the family of jailed SP leader Azam Khan and his family on Wednesday amid reports of Azam Khan’s rift with Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav. Jayant said that he believes that the difference of opinion in any political party is proof of the existence of a democracy in that party.
Jayant was seen avoiding speaking on the issue of an internal split within the SP. He said that he had come to Rampur to meet the prime witness of the Lakhimpur incident. So he decided to meet Azam’s son Abdullah Azam and wife Dr Tanzeen Fatima as a courtesy call. He said that due to different thinking in a party there can be different opinions, which is a unique quality of a vibrant democracy.

He said, “Azam Khan is a senior leader and the Khan family has three generations of relations with his family. He said that the defeat in the assembly elections should be reviewed and there can be different opinions in a democracy. There can be different views in a party and this is proof of internal democracy. Efforts are being made to understand the next stage of democracy and to protect constitutional values, so that better performance can be done.
Bulldozer of Yogi govt is inhuman and illegal
The RLD president said that the Yogi government’s bulldozer is illegal and inhumane at the same time. Every criminal has the right to be tried under the country’s judicial system. On the question of Azam’s estranged relationship with Akhilesh, he said that their conversation took place in a good atmosphere. Azam Khan is angry with the system not with the party.
