Two days after, Bajrang Punia, Olympic medalist, placed his Padma Shri medal on the pavement close to Kartavya’s path in Delhi and said that he would not take it home. It creates controversy in the wrestling federation of India. He said he will think about take award back only, once he show the justice is delivered.
The wrestler speaks to news agency and said that, I will not take padma shri back. I think about it only after justice is given. Further, he said that no award is bigger than the honour of our daughters and sisters. We first need justice only.

A day after wrestler Sakshi Malik’s selection to retire in protest to Sanjay Singh’s election because the Wrestling Federation of India leader, Bajrang Punia submit leyyer to PM Modi, announcing his choice to go back the Padma Shri award. I give my award to PM modi. This is my announcement,” Bajrang Punia said.
Earlier, after announcing that he could return the Padma Shri award to the PM, Bajrang Punia stated, “When I reflect in this day, those medals and awards hurt me, and I surprise why we had been even given these whilst we fought for our daughters and sisters, and we failed. I sense that I am now not suitable for this award. The federation was formed to assist the players, no longer to demean and push them to the limits of retirement.”

Sanjay Singh, the president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), was suspended on Sunday at the side of the relaxation of the body that oversees wrestling in India. After the Sports Ministry issued suspension orders on Sunday (December 24), Sanjay Singh said that he would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with the Union sports minister.
The Sports Ministry, in its suspension order, said that it had taken note of the “hasty” announcements of the junior country wide contests and observed that the newly-elected body “seems to be in whole control of former workplace bearers in complete disregard to the Sports Code”. It, in addition, stated that the enterprise of WFI became being run from premises controlled via former workplace bearers.
