Mauris Noronha, a local “social activist,” shot and killed Abhishek Ghosalkar of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) on Thursday night in Mumbai during a Facebook Live, according to police. Abhishek Ghosalkar was shot in the abdomen and shoulder in an incident that happened at Mauris Noronha’s office in IC Colony, a northern suburb of Borivali (West), and went viral on video. The assault, which was broadcast live on Facebook, happened a few days after Maharashtra saw CCTV footage of a BJP MLA opening fire inside a police station in the nearby Thane district, raising concerns about the state of law and order.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has taken over the investigation into the death of Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of the group.
The incident happened a few days after a BJP MLA was seen on camera shooting at a leader of the Eknath Shinde faction inside an Ulhasnagar police station. The most recent firing incident is being looked into, according to Chief Minister Shinde.
Abhishek Ghosalkar: Who was he?
Abhishek Ghosalkar, forty, is a devoted supporter of the party led by Uddhav Thackeray and the son of former MLA Vinod Ghosalkar.
Mumbai Municipal Corporation corporators included Abhishek Ghosalkar. In addition, he served as the Mumbai District Central Co-operative Bank’s director.

According to a senior police official, Abhishek Ghosalkar was shot four times. He added that Mauris Noronha, who committed the crime using an illegal pistol, then shot himself once.
What caused Abhishek Ghosalkar’s death?
According to a police official, Abhishek Ghosalkar and Mauris Noronha had “personal enmity,” but the purpose of the Facebook live was to make it clear that they had reconciled and ended their animosity for the benefit of the IC Colony area.
In a post on X, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut claimed that Shinde had invited Noronha to join the Shinde-led Shiv Sena after they met four days prior at the chief minister’s official residence, Varsha. Sanjay Raut also called for the resignation of Devendra Fadnavis, the home minister and deputy chief minister.
According to DCP Raj Tilak Roushan of the crime branch, on the surface, there appears to have been a rivalry between the two, and the murder may have resulted from it.
We arrived at the location as soon as we heard about the firing. The attacker and the victim were both taken to a hospital right away after becoming injured. But both passed away from their wounds. The incident is being thoroughly investigated. (Forensic) Samples are being gathered, and the issue is being looked into thoroughly. DCP Datta Nalawade previously told reporters that a FIR is being filed and that the case has been turned over to the Crime Branch.
