We’ll demonstrate that Prime Meridian passes through Ujjain and alters global time: MP MohanYadav

Mohan Yadav was alluding to an antiquated Hindu astronomical theory that Ujjain was formerly thought to be India’s central meridian.

In a speech scolding widespread “westernization,” the recently appointed chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, announced that the state would try to move the Prime Meridian, the line of longitude that serves as the global reference for time, from Greenwich in England to Ujjain.

In response to the governor’s assembly in the state assembly, Yadav emphasized that he would work to “correct the time of the globe” and stated that his government would demonstrate that Ujjain is the global Prime Meridian.

The world knew our time (Ujjain’s), but Paris was first to establish the time, and later the British adopted it, considering Greenwich to be the Prime Meridian, he said.

Yadav was alluding to an antiquated Hindu astronomical theory that Ujjain was once thought to be India’s central meridian and that the time zones and time differences within the nation were determined by the city. The Hindu calendar also uses it as the foundation for time. According to the belief, Ujjain is situated exactly where the Tropic of Cancer and the zero meridian converge. Additionally, Sawai Jai Singh II of Jaipur erected the oldest observatory in India there in the early 1700s.

The longitude that passes through Greenwich is, in fact, recognized by the 1884 convention on meridians as the prime or zero meridian. Indian Standard Time (IST) is derived from Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh (UP), which is located on the longitude of 82 degree 30’E. It is 5.30 hours ahead of Greenwich Meridian Time (GMT).

The chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, who assumed office on December 11 following the BJP’s resounding victory in the assembly elections, was also offended by the widely held notion of midnight. Yadav continued, “His government will work with scientific minds to reverse this rot.” Westernization is ruining the world.

Westernization used to be an attack on our culture, but that is no longer the case. In order to adjust the global time, we will conduct research at the Ujjain observatory. In order for Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take this to a global scale, researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) will conduct research and create a platform, according to Yadav. He asserted that the neighbors of India would back Ujjain’s designation as the central meridian.

He went on, “All the countries, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, believe that India will decide if it comes to fixing standard time.” Indeed, there’s no proof that any other nation would back this kind of plan.

Yadav then attacked the Gregorian calendar, which has been used for almost 500 years, claiming that the Hindu calendar, Vikram Samvat, should be given more importance.

Renowned mathematician Aryabhatta made outstanding contributions to aeronautics. It’s time to acknowledge and value our ancient knowledge now. He stated that the Vikram Samvat should take precedence over the Gregorian Calendar.
