Sachin Pilot has made it clear to the Gandhi family that he wants to be the CM
Congress leader Sachin Pilot has reportedly told Sonia Gandhi that he wants to become the CM of Rajasthan,-and work to ensure the party's return in the 2023 assembly elections. He clearly told Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra that if Congress delays in deciding then it will be a recipe for disaster in the assembly election.
According to sources, Sachin Pilot has met the Gandhi family thrice during the last few weeks. After meeting Sonia Gandhi last week, Sachin Pilot told reporters, "I have talked about how to break the trap and return to power in Rajasthan... I worked really hard. And the party should look ahead..."
Sachin Pilot also insisted that he has left the decision on his role to the high command. He said, "I have always clearly said that I will do my job in any role, but I would definitely like to focus on my state Rajasthan..."
Assembly elections are to be held in Rajasthan in December 2023.
Two years ago, Sachin Pilot had revolted with 18 MLAs, forcing Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to accommodate more than 100 MLAs at a resort. The Gandhi family was able to persuade Sachin Pilot to step back only after several weeks of heated talks in a tense atmosphere, and he was promised a place in the Gehlot cabinet for his supporters.
