A 50-day release was handed down to the renowned rapist, murderer, and Dera Sacha Sauda head, Gurmeet Ram Rahim, by the Haryana government, according to New Delhi. The last four years have seen Rahim’s parole application approved six times. His release was contingent upon his “good conduct” and “contribution to social welfare activities” while he was in prison. Bagphat, the dera of his immensely famous sect, would remain his base of operations throughout his stay in Uttar Pradesh.
By November 2023, he had completed his 21-day jail term and was granted his freedom. Three times last year, parole was given to him. His 184 days spent outside of jail were made possible via furlough and parole. Sunaria Prison was his place of incarceration after his August 2017 conviction for the horrific crimes of murder and rape. Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana are among the several Indian states that back 56-year-old Sriram Rahim. About sixteen years ago, somebody killed someone. According to the Good Conduct Prisoners (Temporary Release) Act, 2023 Haryana prisoner may be released in such cases. Any prisoners deemed guilty of multiple murders or listed as subjects under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act will not be granted parole.
