Tuesday is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s day to inaugurate the new terminal building at Tiruchirapalli International Airport while he is in Tamil Nadu. PM Modi will leave Tiruchirapalli to commence his tour of South India. In Tamil Nadu, the prime minister will dedicate and inaugurate the country, as well as lay the cornerstone for other development projects valued at over 19,850 crores. PM Modi will travel to Kerala, Lakshadweep, and Tamil Nadu over the course of two days on January 2 and 3.

The programs will start in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, where I will speak at the Bharathidasan University’s convocation ceremony. PM Modi wrote on X that many people will profit from these projects. The PMO statement states that the development of the Tiruchirapalli international airport’s new terminal building came at a cost of more than 1100 crores.

The airport’s design was influenced by Tiruchirappalli’s vibrant culture. It would feature various subjects and art forms, such as Kolam paintings and the colors of Srirangam Temple. Over 44 lakh passengers a year and roughly 3,500 passengers during peak hours can be served by Trichy airport. There are 60 check-in counters, and 5 baggage during peak hours can be served by Trichy airport. There are 60 check-in counters, 5 baggage carousels, 60 arrival immigration counters, and 44 departure immigration counters in the new Trichy airport terminal building. After Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Tiruchirapalli foreign airport is the second-biggest airport in terms of foreign passenger traffic. In December, domestic air travel reached a record high. The Prime Minister will inaugurate a monument dedicated to the country and lay the foundation stone for development projects valued at over 1150 crores during his visit to Lakshadweep.

The Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fiber Connection (KLI-SOFC) projects will be officially launched by PM Modi. Additionally, he will dedicate the Low-Temperature Thermal Desalination (LTTD) plant in Kadmat to the country, which has the capacity to produce 1.5 lakh liters of pure drinking water per day. In addition, PM Modi will dedicate the first-ever battery-backed solar power facility in Lakshadweep, a solar power plant in Kavaratti.

The development projects worth about 20,000 crore that are being introduced today would accelerate Tamil Nadu’s progress and development. I want to congratulate each and every one of you on starting these ventures. Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. K. Stelin made a plea to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, requesting that the state declare the rains that devastated the state to be a natural disaster and promptly release monies from the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) to help with relief and reconstruction efforts.
