After announcing her nephew Akash Anand as her replacement, Mayawati also denied rumors that she was quitting politics. The leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Mayawati, declared on Monday that her party will run a single candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. But Mayawati did not rule out an alliance after the election. Addressing a news conference in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow, Mayawati said, We struggle with additional setbacks from partnerships. The majority of political parties in the nation wish to join forces with the BSP as a result. Post-election, an alliance may be taken into consideration.
We have decided to stand alone in the Lok Sabha elections because we formed a full the vast majority government in Uttar Pradesh in 2007 with the support of Muslims, Dalits, tribal people, and members of backward communities. We’ll keep our distance from people who practice communalism and caste. The BSP supremo continued, “We will exert every effort to assist the BSP in receiving a favorable ruling.” Between 1990 and 2000, the BSP dominated Uttar Pradesh politics. However, during the previous few years, it gradually saw a decline. The party received the fewest votes in thirty years-just 12.8%- in the 2022 assembly election.
The BSP chief, however, denied rumors that she was leaving politics after appointing her nephew, Akash Anand, as her replacement last month. After I named Akash Anand as my ideological successor last month, there were rumors in the media that I might be leaving politics soon. She told the media, “I want to make it clear that is not the case, and I will keep working to strengthen the party.”
Mayawati, the former chief minister, confirmed on Monday that her Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will run independently in the 2024 national elections, keeping a safe distance from forces that are communal, capitalist, or casteist. She also stated that she received an invitation to the Ram Temple inauguration, but she has not decided whether to attend. At a press conference celebrating her 68th birthday, she stated, “I am not sure if I will attend the ceremony yet because I am working on the party.” The BSP, she continued, welcomes the opening and the construction of the mosque in Ayodhya in accordance with the 2019 Supreme Court decision that cleared the way for the construction of the temple at the location of the destroyed Babri Mosque.
Mayawati emphasized that the BSP respects all communities and religions and is secular. She restarted that the BSP would avoid dealing with the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as well as the opposition Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA). Mayawati stated that if the national polls are fair and impartial, the BSP will perform well. She also mentioned that because a Dalit leader controls the party’s reins, the party runs its own elections. Although the BSP receives votes from alliance partners, it does not receive the allies’ base vote.
