Lucknow: Rahul Gandhi has made a big disclosure after suffering a humiliating defeat in the UP assembly elections 2022. He has told the media that before the elections, Congress wanted to form an alliance with the BSP.  CM post was also offered to BSP Supremo Mayawati under the alliance, but she didn’t even answer.

Rahul Gandhi has said that Mayawati has not contested elections this time. We wanted an alliance with BSP so we have offered an alliance from our side. We had also said that she can become the Chief Minister. But he did not respond to our offer. According to Rahul Gandhi, Mayawati no longer wants to fight for fear of ED, CBI.

In this regard, he tells that we have a lot of respect for Kashi Ram. He had empowered the Dalit. Congress has weakened, but this is not the issue. Dalits need to be empowered. But Mayawati says that she will not fight. The road is completely open, but because of CBI, ED, and Pegasus, she does not want to fight. Now this statement of Rahul Gandhi after the election results means a lot. The question is also that if there was an alliance with BSP before the elections, would the situation on the ground change, and would the performance of both the parties have been better?

By the way, in the Uttar Pradesh elections, both the Congress and the BSP had fought alone on their own. Both the parties have been wiped out in this election. On the one hand, if Congress has won two seats, then Mayawati’s BSP has won only one seat, performing its worst. After the election results, the BSP chief definitely mentioned the Muslims, also said that their vote unilaterally went to the SP. But then Mayawati did not talk about this proposal. Now Rahul Gandhi has intensified the discussion in the political corridors by raising this issue.

Both BSP and Congress had put a dismal electoral performance in the recently concluded UP assembly elections where INC got 2 seats with a vote share of meager 2.3 percent while BSP managed just one seat with its vote share sank to 12% from 22% in 2017.
