What makes the Delhi City greener and sustainable? On Thursday, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, VK Saxena, and CM, Arvind Kejriwal, jointly flagged off 500 electric buses, and the number of these buses in the national capital was 1,300. 

Before this, in January 2022, as many as 800 electric-powered buses had been operating in the countrywide capital, and the feature blanketed a distance of greater than 42 million kilometres. Delhi now has 1,300 buses, making it the highest city in India. On this, Kejriwal said that we should improve our transport sector. According to reports, the buses have aided in reducing more than 34,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide so fast.

In the Twitter post, Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot stated, “Congrats Delhi!!! We’re celebrating some other huge milestones today! Flagged off 500 new E-buses by Hon’ble CM @ArvindKejriwal and Hon’ble @LtGovDelhi. Success is never overnight; it’s far an assured result of Consistency! We are once more leading the manner with a file 1300 electric buses.” Before the new addition, 800 electric buses have been operating on Delhi roads since January 2022.

These buses have protected a distance of more than 42 million kilometres and reduced more than 34,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, according to professionals. 

How many buses will operate in Delhi by 2025 

By 2025, Delhi could have 10,480 buses, with electric ones making up 80 per cent of the fleet.

Benefits of new buses flagged off in Delhi. 

Earlier in August, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur stated that during a flow to promote inexperienced mobility, the Cabinet authorized the ‘PM-eBus Sewa’ scheme with an allocation of ₹57,613 crore.

The new buses are stated to be available, air-conditioned, emit zero smoke and noise, and are prepared with GPS, CCTVs and panic buttons. The transition from diesel-based total buses to electric-powered buses is anticipated to make a full-size development in the air quality of the town because of a discount in carbon emissions. These electric buses make Delhi greener and free from carbon dioxide.
