News Desk – Investigators probing the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort have uncovered a shocking terror plot the arrested suspects had planned serial bombings across six locations in the National Capital Region (NCR) on December 6, the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition.
Officials said the accused, linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), chose the date to “avenge the Babri Masjid demolition” and were preparing a five-phase plan to execute the attacks.
The 5-Phase Terror Plan
Formation of Module:
The group was formed with help from Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind networks.
Procurement of Materials:
The suspects sourced explosives, ammunition, and chemicals from Nuh and Gurugram in Haryana to assemble IEDs.
Bomb Preparation & Reconnaissance:
They prepared chemical-based IEDs and conducted surveillance of potential targets across Delhi-NCR.
Distribution of Bombs:
After identifying locations, the module distributed the assembled bombs among members.
Execution:
The final plan was to carry out coordinated blasts at six to seven sites on December 6, 2025.
The attacks were initially planned for August, but were delayed to December due to logistical reasons.
The group was led by Imam Irfan Ahmad from Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir, who allegedly radicalised young doctors and used them to build the module.
Dr. Mohammad Umar, who drove the car that exploded near Red Fort on November 10, reportedly carried out the blast in panic after police raids exposed the Faridabad module.
Police earlier recovered 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate from Faridabad during raids connected to the case.
Dr. Muzammil Sheikh and Dr. Shaheen Sayeed were also arrested.
Investigators believe all three were part of a new Jaish module of highly educated professionals.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is now handling the probe.
Why December 6 Matters
The Babri Masjid, built in the 16th century in Ayodhya, was demolished on December 6, 1992.
Officials said Jaish chief Masood Azhar has repeatedly threatened to avenge the incident, even mentioning Ayodhya as a target in his writings.
So far, nine people have died and over 20 were injured in the Red Fort blast. Officials believe the swift action by police may have prevented a much larger terror attack in the national capital.
