With Rs 2361 crore in income, the BJP had the highest total. Its revenue for FY 2022-2023 makes up 76.73% of the total revenue of six national parties, according to ADR. For the 2022–2023 fiscal year, the six national parties report a combined income of about Rs 3077 crore. With an estimated income of Rs 2361 crore, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is in power at the Centre, had the highest in the fiscal year 2022-2023, according to a statement released on Wednesday by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
According to the ADR, which cited the documents these parties provided to the Election Commission, the Congress reported the second-highest income of Rs 452.375 crore, or 14.70 percent of the combined revenue of the six national parties. The Bahujan Samaj Party, Aam Aadmi Party, National People’s Party, and Communist Party of India (Marxist), in addition to the BJP and Congress, have disclosed their income.
Remarkably, the only parties to receive money through electoral bonds were the BJP, Congress, and AAP, whose combined revenue accounted for nearly half of the total income of the six parties. The plan was recently overturned by the Supreme Court, which found that it violated citizens’ rights to information and was unconstitutional.
From Rs 47.20 lakh in FY 2021-2022 to Rs 7.562 crore in FY 2022-2023—a 1502.12% increase—or Rs 7.06 crore—the NPP’s revenue.
The income of the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP climbed from Rs 44.539 crore in FY 2021–22 to Rs 85.17 crore in FY 2022–23, or 91.23 percent, or Rs 40.631 crore.
According to the ADR, the Congress, CPI (M), and BSP saw a decline in income of 16.42% (Rs 88.90 crore), 12.68% (Rs 20.575 crore), and 33.14% (Rs 14.508 crore) between the fiscal years 2021-2022 and 2022-2023.
The ADR further stated that the BJP only spent 576.68 percent, or Rs 1361.684 crore, of the Rs 2360.844 crore total income that it declared for FY 2022-2023.
The Congress claimed to have earned Rs 452.375 crore overall, but it also claimed to have spent Rs 467.135 crore. Due to this, its expenses for that year exceeded its total revenue by 3.26 percent.
The CPI (M) reported total revenue of Rs 141.661 crore and total expenses of Rs 106.067 crore, meaning that 74.87 percent of the revenue was generated by the organization.
Similarly, the AAP’s expenditures for that year totaled Rs 102.051 crore, compared to its total income of Rs 85.17 crore. This meant that the expenditures exceeded the income by 19.82 percent.
