A case has been registered against singer-composer Palash Muchhal after a complaint by Vigyan Mane, who is reportedly a childhood friend of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana.
Mane has accused Muchhal of taking ₹25 lakh from him for a film project and later refusing to return the money. He also alleged that the singer abused him using casteist slurs during an argument.
According to the complaint, Mane invested the money in a film called Nazariya. He claimed that Muchhal had promised him a role in the film and assured him that the investment and profits would be returned after the release.
However, Mane alleged that the film was never made.
He said he repeatedly asked for his money back, but Muchhal kept delaying repayment. Later, he allegedly refused to return the amount.
Mane further claimed that when he met Muchhal at a farmhouse in Sangli on November 22, 2025, the singer abused him using caste-based remarks and behaved in a humiliating manner.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under the Atrocities Act and other relevant sections.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sandeep Bhagwat confirmed that the complaint has been officially registered and that an investigation is ongoing.
The case comes months after reports that Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal had called off their wedding in December 2025.
