News Desk – Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, has been denied permission to move from Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Prison to Ballari jail.
During the hearing, Darshan appeared via video conference and broke down, telling the judge, “I don’t want anything for anyone, please give me poison…” He complained about not seeing sunlight for nearly a month and developing a fungal infection on his hands. The judge cautioned him, saying such remarks should not be made, after which Darshan remained silent.
While rejecting the transfer request, the court allowed limited relief he can now move within the jail premises and will be given extra bedding, pillows, and bedsheets as per prison rules. The court noted that there was no violation of prison regulations to justify a transfer.
Darshan was arrested on June 11, 2024, along with Pavithra Gowda and 15 others, in connection with the murder. He spent 131 days in jail before getting interim bail, followed by regular bail in December. However, the Supreme Court cancelled his bail on August 14, sending him back to prison.
