News Desk – In Bangladesh, there have been protests because people are unhappy with the rules about who gets government jobs. These rules gave jobs to the families of people who fought in the war in 1971, which not everyone thought was fair. Because of the protests, more than 150 people have died.

Following this, West Bengal’s leader, Mamata Banerjee, said she might talk to Bangladesh’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina. Mamata also said that if people from Bangladesh need a safe place, West Bengal is ready to help them.

In response to the protests, the Bangladesh government had to set a curfew, close schools, and turn off mobile and internet services for a while. But after lots of people got died in this protest, the country’s Supreme Court decided to change the job rules. Now, fewer jobs will be set aside for war veterans’ families, and more will be available based on merit. This change is trying to make everyone calm down and make things fair to everyone.
