We can now officially put an end to the speculation about the new chief minister of Madhya Pradesh. Mohan Yadav was elected as Madhya Pradesh’s new chief minister during the BJP legislative party meeting on Monday. After the BJP swept the assembly elections, winning 163 seats and decisively defeating the opposition, there have been days of tense debates in New Delhi and Bhopal. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the incumbent, Prahlad Patel, Jyotiraditya Scindia, VD Sharma, and Kailash Vijayvargiya were among the names that were becoming popular. The BJP named Vishnu Deo as its chief minister in Chhattisgarh, and today Madhya Pradesh has chosen its new chief minister.

Yadav, after Suderlal Patwa, Uma Bharti, Babulal Gaur, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, will be the fifth chief minister to be nominated by the BJP. Chouhan was the CM for more than 16 years out of these.
2013 saw him win the same seat as an MLA for the first time. In both 2018 and 2023, he prevailed in the assembly elections while holding the same seat.
In the government of Shivaraj Singh Chouhan starting in 2020, Mohal Yadav served as a cabinet minister as well.
