The Indian Air Force would be sending 48 Agniveer Vyu Women as part of its Republic Day contingent, officials told the media on Friday. Squadron Leader Pratiti Ahluwalia, Squadron Leader Yadav Flight Lieutenant Kirti Rohil, and Squadron Leader Rashmi Thakur will serve as supernumerary officers for the IAF marching contingent, according to their statement. 15 female IAF pilots will also be in charge of a variety of IAF aircraft during the aircraft’s fly-past. Bhartiya Vayu Sena: Sakshan, Atmnirbhar will be the theme of the IAF’s Republic Day tableau.
Fly-past to present the Military of India
This year’s Republic Day celebration will feature an aerial display showcasing India’s military prowess featuring 29 fighter aircrafts, 8 transport aircrafts, 13 helicopters and one heritage aircraft roaring above the Kartavya Path.
The recently introduced C-295 transport aircraft, which is taking part in the Republic Day Celebration for the first time, is one of the primary attractions of the fly-past. During the festivities the Indian air force will also recreate the iconic :Tangail airdrop of their victory over Pakistan in 1971, using one Dakota and two Dornier’s in a Tangail formation.
Four of the locally created Light Combat Aircrafts (LCA) Tejas will fly in a Tejas creation during the Republic Day Parade, making the aircraft’s debut.
This year’s parade will also feature six Rafale fighter planes flying in a Vajrang formation.
This Year’s parade will also feature two defense force contingents made up entirely of women. According to defense officials here, one contingent of 144 soldiers would be made up entirely of women, 60 of whom would come from the Army and the remaining two from the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy. Women Agniveer soldiers from the Air Force and navy would be part of the contingent. Leading this all-female contingent at the parade will be female doctors from the Directorates General of the Armed Forces Medical Services, which comprises military nursing service nurses.
On January 26 Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, will be the main attraction during the Republic Day Parade. Notably, Republic Day celebrations here in the nation’s capital feature a chief guest from France for the sixth time. One of the main priorities of the Narendra Modi led government at the center has been the promotion of Nari Shakti or enhancing the role of women in the armed forces. For female soldiers and officers in the defense forces all three services have created numerous opportunities. The Navy has appointed a female officer to command a warship for the first time, while the Indian Air Force has permitted women to fly as fighter pilots.
