Amit Singh, the additional superintendent of police for Imphal East, was subsequently saved, according to a statement from the Manipur Police. Tuesday saw a further rise in tension in Manipur after it was reported that a second superintendent of police had been kidnapped in the Imphal East district by members of the Meitei organization, Arambai Tenggol. In a statement, the Manipur Police said that Imphal East Additional Superintendent of Police Amit Singh was eventually saved by police and security personnel acting quickly.
Amit Singh, an officer with the Manipur Police’s operations wing, has been admitted to a hospital, where his status is listed as stable. Armed operatives purportedly affiliated with the Arambai Tenggol stormed the residence on Tuesday night and fired gunfire into at least four cars. According to news reporters citing unidentified officials, the Army was called in when tensions in Manipur increased and four divisions of the Assam Rifles were stationed in Imphal East following the kidnapping of a police officer.
The Manipur Police provided details of the incident, which happened on Tuesday night at around seven o’clock. They said that about 200 armed criminals broke into Amit Singh’s home in vehicles.

Additional security forces hurried to the scene upon receiving information. Following the police action, two people were injured and taken to the JNIMS Hospital in Porompat. They were identified as Rabinash Moirangthem, a 24-year-old son of M. Ranjan of Kwakeithel Akham Leikai, and Kangujam Bhimsen, a 20-year-old cousin of K. Abosana of Khongman Bashikhong. The armed miscreants kidnapped the Addl SP along with one of his assistants in the middle of the incident. After being saved from the Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai area, they were brought to Raj Medical for medical attention. It also stated that an investigation has begun and a case has been filed regarding this.
The officials stated that the reason for the random termination and blocked roads was in response to the arrests, calling for their release. The father of the police officer, M.Kulla, described the incident in detail, saying, We attempted to speak to the armed men when they arrived, but all of a sudden they began shooting at the properties and vehicles, and we were forced to lock ourselves inside. Officials claim that M. Kulla called his son and told him about the incident.
