Writer’s house under attack during COVID in Lucknow by land sharks

Lucknow: A strange matter has come to light from old Lucknow where COVID has compounded matters in a very strange manner. A writer and journalist author of two novels on history of Lucknow was the target of land sharks. He lives on top floor of a house inherited by his grandfather; tenants without any warning started massive demolition drive below his floor. His grandfather had installed a tenant below his floor in course of time the whole family died except an aged helpless and childless widow. This lady was forcefully removed by the land sharks to which the writer Anurag Kumar objected. This angered the land sharks who threatened to demolish Anurag Kumar’s house itself. Anurag Kumar approached Chowk kotwali in this regard and the work was stopped temporarily.

In the meanwhile Anurag Kumar started legal proceedings against the tenants but this was greatly hampered by the civil courts facing and onslaught of Corona due to which the court remained closed for almost two weeks and nothing could be done there. In the meanwhile two or three unknown people claiming to be lawyers forced the writer to come to police chowki Yahiyaganj in old Lucknow and tried to threaten him there and warned that his own house would be broken down. The chowki incharge asked Anurag Kumar to show a stay order from court to which the writer objected and said that in fact the tenants needed a no objection certificate from him and a demolition order from court to do any activity under his floor but the police till the time of filing of the news insisted on getting a stay order from the writer.

The writer has meanwhile appealed to all the top officials in the state government to help him including the Commissioner of police, DM and Chief Secretary. He has also appealed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Ji and has deposited a letter at his Kalidas Marg residence in Lucknow since due to COVID janta darbar is suspended. The writer awaits a strong action against land sharks from the state government and is deeply distressed by his ordeal of running from one police station to other and to court in this time when COVID pandemic is hitting Lucknow hard.
