Kanpur: Vikas Dubey, the main accused in the murder case of a notorious criminal and eight policemen in Bikeru village in Kanpur, was killed in an alleged police encounter in Bhauti area of Kanpur on Friday morning. According to the police, Dubey tried to escape after a police vehicle overturned in a road accident while bringing Ujjain to Kanpur. Meanwhile, the last rites of Vikas Dubey were performed in the evening.
According to the information, Vikas Dubey was cremated at Bhairav Ghat in Kanpur. During this time his wife and close relatives were present. The brother-in-law was brought to bring the body of Vikas, and the rest of the family did not go to take his body. Earlier, the autopsy took place between postmortem videography.
It was learnt that the mother of Vikas Dubey had refused to visit Kanpur from Lucknow to receive the body after post-mortem. She has also not spoken to the media after the encounter at Bhaunti in Bara police circle, around 30 km from Kanpur.
Vikas Dubey was killed on Friday morning after being critically injured in an alleged shootout with STF officials. He was shot when he reportedly tried to flee, following a road accident in which the vehicle he was travelling in overturned.
