Agartala: In Tripura, a 90-year-old elderly woman was gang-raped by two men in her home. Police gave this information on Saturday. A senior police officer said that the incident occurred on 24 October in Barhaldi village of Kanchanpur subdivision in North Tripura district but his relatives lodged a police complaint on 29 October.
Superintendent of Police Bhanupad Chakraborty said that both the accused of raping the woman are absconding and a search has been started to nab them. The officer said, “One of the accused used to call the woman as ‘grandma’. The woman lived alone in the house. On the night of the incident, the accused entered the house with another person and raped the elderly woman. ”
The woman fell ill after the incident but did not inform the police. He said that when his relatives came to know about the incident, he filed a complaint five days later. The officer said that the police took him to the hospital and also recorded his statement, on the basis of which investigation has been started.
