Smriti Irani on Tuesday showered appreciation for the Modi-led government for India’s prevailing success in the sports sector. She hailed the efforts of the Modi government during a press conference in the capital.

The union minister has appreciated the efforts of the athletes and also showcased their contribution to glorifying the country’s reputation in the field of sport.

She further appreciated the country’s success at the Tokyo Olympics and hailed the efforts of Neeraj Chopra for winning the gold for India. She also appreciated the efforts of the Paralympic team who managed to bag 19 medals for the country.

The minister hailed the success of the women’s hockey team who finished fourth in the Olympics just short of clinching the bronze title.

Smriti Irani mentioned the TOPS (Target Olympic Podium Scheme) which has helped in the training of the athletes by providing them an allowance of Rs 5 lakh per annum which they can use for their sports activity.

Further, the minister has also mentioned the victory of the women’s hockey team in the FIH nations cup by defeating Spain in the finals. The Union minister said that it was the vision of the Prime Minister to see the country prevail in sports.

The Prime minister also said in one of his rallies that we must thrive to make India a Sports hub and with our efforts, we can one-day hoist tournaments like the Fifa world cups.
