New Delhi: The government of India appointed scientist Samir V Kamat as secretary of the Department of Defence Research and chairman of Development organisation (DRDO) on Thursday, sources said on Friday. Kamat, director general of Naval Systems and Materials at DORDO will succeed G Satheesh Reddy.

Sources further said that Reddy was appointed as scientific adviser to the defence minister. Kamat will remain on the post till he attains the age of 60.
