Gurugram: A group of farmers have sought permission from the government to commit mass suicide, sources said on Wednesday. These farmers have been protesting against the acquisition of 1, 810 acres in Haryana Manesar region. They submitted a memorandum to deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav, seeking permission for mass suicide. Before that, the protesters surrounded the mini secretariat and held a flag march from Rajiv Chowk.

Their protest has been continuing for more than 70 days. They demanded that the government should either stop land acquisition or pay them compensation which should be at the current market rate.  The protesters plan to boycott the leaders of the Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jananayak Janata Party (JJP). They said that they would not let the leaders of those parties in 25 villages.
