New Delhi: During the Kumbh held in Haridwar, there has been a new disclosure of issuing fake Covid certificates on a large scale, this has been disclosed by the Uttarakhand Police. In this disclosure, the names of some private labs have come to the fore where a large number of fake Covid certificates have made. After this revelation, the police has started investigation on this matter.
In fact, when the second wave of corona infection was at its peak, the Kumbh Mela was organized. After which questions were raised on this on a large scale. Then the cases of infection had also increased significantly. People rigged on a large scale to attend the Kumbh and got Covid certificates made in a fake manner.
Haridwar District Magistrate C Ravi Shankar said on Saturday that a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Chief Development Officer Saurabh Gaharwar to probe the allegations and submit a report within 15 days. He said that during the Kumbh the payment has been stopped for the time being due to the ongoing investigations to all the laboratories entrusted with the responsibility of RT-PCR and rapid antigen testing.
A detailed inquiry was ordered by the Haridwar administration after a preliminary inquiry that several private laboratories by the district health department had issued fake COVID test reports in the names of several people on the basis of their identity cards and phone numbers.
The preliminary inquiry into the alleged irregularities was done by Abhishek Tripathi, the Chief Controlling Officer for COVID cases, who recommended a detailed inquiry into the matter. Health department sources said there are apprehensions that the results of more than one lakh such certificate have been issued by private laboratories.
