Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit Bihar to open the new Nalanda University campus. This campus is built near the original Nalanda University in Rajgir, a renowned center of learning about 1,600 years ago.
According to the report, the inauguration ceremony will be attended by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and diplomats from 17 different countries.
PM Modi first toured the ancient Nalanda site, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and then inaugurate the new university campus.
The new Nalanda University has been built on a 455-acre site and has a Net Zero area with extensive water bodies.
The idea to rebuild Nalanda University was proposed by the former President APJ Abdul Kalam in 2007, and the project officially started in 2010.
