New Delhi/Lucknow: Yoga has become a way of life, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday when he was participating in a mass Yoga demonstration at the Mysore Palace ground in Karnataka on the occasion of the eighth International Day of Yoga (IDY).
Mass Yoga demonstrations are being organised at 75 iconic locations across the country under the leadership of 75 Union ministers, along with the Yoga demonstration by Modi. Seventy-five locations have been chosen to integrate the event with the 75th year of Indian Independence.

The Yoga demonstrations are also being held by various educational, social, political, cultural, religious, corporate and other civil society organisations and are being attended by crores of people across the country.
In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel led the eighth International Day of Yoga celebrations by performing yogic exercises in the lawns of Raj Bhavan in the city. A large number of state ministers, bureaucrats and eminent citizens also attended it.
Yoga is a perfect solution to a healthy body and mind, Adityanath said, adding that this has proved true during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Brajesh Pathak led the celebrations in Prayagraj, and his counterpart Keshav Maurya was in Ayodhya. In addition, a large number of nodal officers also took part in yoga sessions across the state. Besides, several schools, private organisations, social groups and NGOs also organised events to mark the occasion. According to a state government spokesman, nearly five crore people joined the celebrations across the state.
