Kolkata: Former West Bengal and Trinamool Congress leader Partha Chatterjee, arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), has denied having any intimate relations with Arpita Mukherjee. From her flat in Kolkata, the probe agency found a sum of Rs 21 crore during raids, sources in Ed said on Friday. Nevertheless, ED officials said that the documents available with them do not vindicate Chatterjee’s arguments.
ED sources further said that the former minister was trying to hide evidence. When the ED officials wanted to know whether Chatterjee knew Arpita or not, he reportedly said that he did not know her well. The former minister said that he had seen her along with others who came to his residence. When the ED officials wanted to know from Chatterjee whether she was close to him, he said that he had seen Arpita at a Durga Puja Pandal in Naktala area.

The next question was related to the huge amount of money found in her house. The ED officials enquired of him whether he was acquainted with the dough found in Arpita’s flat. The former minister, however, said that he had only heard about that. When the ED asked whether he knew who owned the money, Chatterjee replied he had no idea, said ED officials.
