Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh on Sunday set a new record by planting over 25 crore saplings in a single day.
On this occasion, State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath planted sapling in Sultanpur along the Purvanchal Expressway.
Over one billion saplings have been planted in Uttar Pradesh during the regime of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from 2017-18 to 2020-21, officials here on Sunday claimed.
Participating in the Van Mahotsav, the Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel inaugurated ‘Smiriti Vatika’ in Jhansi on Sunday. Under this, the Governor planted multi-use plants there, rich in nutrients and medicinal properties. The total number of saplings planted in the vatika was about 5000.
Officials here said the record for planting 25 crore saplings was achieved at a sharp 5.49 pm. By 1815 hours, as many as 25,50,90,119 saplings were planted in the State.
