NationalBukhari, Jamiat Ulema Hind, Muslim organisations demand severe punishment for killers

Date:

New Delhi/Jaipur: All Muslim organisations including Jamiat Ulema Hind and Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Delhi Syed Ahmed Bukhari criticised the killing of a tailor in Udaipur, terming it as an act of cowardice and un-Islamic. All Islamic bodies also demanded severe punishment for the killers. They also demanded the arrest of those who try to criticise other religions.

Bukhari said it has shaken the humanity. “The inhumane incident of the murder of a man named Kanhaiya Lal by two persons named Riyaz and Ghaus, and that too in the name of the Holy Prophet, is not only an act of cowardice but an act against Islam, unlawful and inhuman. “I, myself and on behalf of the Muslims of India, with all the vehemence at our disposal, condemn this act,” he said.

President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Maulana Arshad Madani, said “The Udaipur incident is a very tragic, un-Islamic and inhumane act, it is highly condemnable. The law of the state would work accordingly in this case. As we had opposed mob-lynching in many places, we also consider this inhumane act to be extremely dangerous to law and order. We are always against everyone taking the law into their own hands.”
Madani said that whatever happened due to the derogatory words against the Prophet was bad, but in order to maintain law and order and communal harmony in the country, it is necessary to show tolerance and patience. He added that just as we oppose this incident, we strongly oppose insulting the dignity of any religious figure or hurting the feelings of those who believe in a religion by using derogatory words. Madani stated that the silence of powerful people in the country, and not arresting the perpetrators has tarnished the image of the country all over the world.

Case to be tried under UAPA, says Gehlot

The murder of Kanhaiya Lal has been registered under stringent provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and will be investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), said Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday after chairing a high-level review meeting. He said that the Rajasthan ATS will provide full cooperation in the probe. The police officials said that the preliminary investigation has revealed that the incident was prima facie done for the purpose of spreading terror. Information about the international connection of the accused in other countries has also come to the fore.

Killer has Pakistan links

The investigative agencies have learnt that Ghaus Mohammed, who killed Kanhaiya Lal, went to Pakistan for terrorist training and had been living in India as a sleeper cell. He was in touch with Pakistan based handler via different numbers.

“The role of Pakistan based agencies have emerged. We will check the call details record of all his numbers. His all-social media profiles will be scanned. We will also try to establish the role of others, if any,” said a source.
